Women of the Wick is a podcast series and a poetry platform highlighting personal stories by women and people from the LGBTQ+ community, founded by Finnish born, London-based artist and writer Sara Kärpänen. In her work, Sara is interested in exploring the lines between private and public by using poetry, photography and audio as her main mediums. Sara lives and works in London where she is currently studying a Master’s Degree at the UCL, Bartlett School of Architecture and writing a book on how to occupy public space through art and cultural activism, funded by the Kone Foundation.
WoW is responding to the need to have a safe, open and inclusive space to have our voices heard. I hope that by sharing our personal stories what lead us finding who we are now, we can amplify other people’s voices and the feel of belonging—and to lift each other up.
Women of the Wick’s past and present partners include Foundation for Future London, Heal Her, Hackney WickED, and Women in Tech Regatta Amsterdam, among others. Interested in collaborating? Send us a message.
